 Chicago Underwater Hockey Club

How Do I Join?

Everyone is welcome to join the club. You don't need to have any experience playing underwater hockey or even snorkeling. We will teach you everything you need to know.

There is also no need to be a swimmer, while a lot of our players are swimmers, we also have a lot of players with no swimming background.

To join simply talk to one of us, our e-mails are listed on the contacts page. Then just show up at the pool with a swimsuit and towel. There is no need to bring any equipment, we will provide that for you. However, if you already own a mask, fins, and snorkel feel free to bring them with.

We now have Rookie Introduction on the first Saturday and third Tuesday of each month. This is a practice aimed at teaching rookies how to play the game. We hope you can make it out to a Rookie Sunday, but if you can't, don't worry, you are welcome to come to any of our other practices.

Practices are friendly, we do not keep score and if teams are lopsided we will make a trade to even them out. We also travel to tournaments throughout the Midwest, the rest of the country, and Canada. At tournaments games are more competitive and there are refs watching the game. Everyone is welcome to travel to any tournament with the club.

If you don't live in Chicago but still want to play, there is most likely a club located where you live. Please go to our links page and check out the Underwater Hockey Tourist, they have links there to every team in the USA and all around the world.

The USA UWH webpage has a great introduction of what to expect at your first practice. It can be found here: What to Expect
